On a late Friday afternoon in May, an old client, whom Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. has represented as a shareholder in a cooperative, called the firm. He shared that on that day, his housekeeper had told him that she was ill and wanted to resign from her job. He requested the preparation of an agreement with her which set a final date for her employment, indicated the amount of her severance and the date by which it was to be paid, acknowledged that she was resigning rather than being fired, and included that she would not disclose any information she had learned in the course of her employment. He also requested that she provide him with a general release. The client wanted these documents ready by the time the housekeeper returned to work the following Monday.
